Genesis 5 Scripture (World English Bible - WEB)
1: This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.
2: Male and female He created them. He blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3: Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
4: The days of Adam after he begot Seth were eight hundred years, and he had sons and daughters.
5: So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years. Then he died.
6: Seth lived one hundred and five years, and begot Enosh.
7: Seth lived after he begot Enosh eight hundred and seven years, and had sons and daughters.
8: So all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years. Then he died.
9: Enosh lived ninety years, and begot Kenan.
10: Enosh lived after he begot Kenan eight hundred and fifteen years, and had sons and daughters.
11: So all the days of Enosh were nine hundred and five years. Then he died.
12: Kenan lived seventy years, and begot Mahalalel.
13: Kenan lived after he begot Mahalalel eight hundred and forty years, and had sons and daughters.
14: So all the days of Kenan were nine hundred and ten years. Then he died.
15: Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and begot Jared.
16: Mahalalel lived after he begot Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and had sons and daughters.
17: So all the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred and ninety-five years. Then he died.
18: Jared lived one hundred and sixty-two years, and begot Enoch.
19: Jared lived after he begot Enoch eight hundred years, and had sons and daughters.
20: So all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years. Then he died.
21: Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah.
22: Enoch walked with God after he begot Methuselah three hundred years, and had sons and daughters.
23: So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
24: Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.
25: Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech.
26: Methuselah lived after he begot Lamech seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters.
27: So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years. Then he died.
28: Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years, and begot a son.
29: He called his name Noah, saying, “This one shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed.”
30: Lamech lived after he begot Noah five hundred and ninety-five years, and had sons and daughters.
31: So all the days of Lamech were seven hundred and seventy-seven years. Then he died.
32: Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

Adam to Seth (Genesis 5:1–8)
Adam lived a long life and had many children, but Seth is highlighted as the replacement for Abel. God’s plan continues through chosen lines, showing His faithfulness.

Enoch Walked with God (Genesis 5:21–24)
Enoch stands out for walking faithfully with God. God took him, showing that intimacy with Him brings life and blessing beyond the natural order.

Lamech and Noah (Genesis 5:25–32)
Lamech names his son Noah, who will bring comfort and hope. God preserves a faithful remnant, culminating in the deliverer of humanity.
Reflection: God is faithful to preserve and provide hope, even through difficult times and generations.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness through generations. Even when life seems long and routine, You are at work accomplishing Your purposes.
Lord, help us to walk faithfully like Enoch, in intimate relationship with You. Teach us to honor Your name and legacy in our families, communities, and workplaces.
Father, we trust You to preserve Your plan in our lives and provide hope through Your promises. May we recognize Your guidance, live obediently, and impact future generations for Your glory.
Help us to stay steadfast and faithful, even when challenges arise. Strengthen our hearts, renew our spirits, and let our lives reflect Your eternal faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
